State FOLLOWS California – They’re Ending New Gas Car Sales!

New York Pushing Forward With Zero Emissions Agenda!

Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, said in September 2020 that he planned to eliminate gasoline-powered automobiles and mandate that all new sales be electric by 2035. Now, another state is following that example. On September 29, Governor Kathy Hochul of New York unveiled a plan to limit the sale of new vehicles in her jurisdiction to those with zero emissions by 2035.

Hochul stated that New York needed to take the lead and contribute to the nation’s transition to zero emissions during a news conference to announce the program. She mentioned that by 2027, city school buses would run on clean energy. She anticipated achieving benchmarks in 2026 and 2030 to demonstrate the state was on track to accomplish her overall goal. By 2026, the governor expected electric vehicles to account for 35% of new vehicle sales and, by 2030, 68%. She declared New York a “climate leader” and said she wanted to “spur innovation and implementation” of electric vehicles more broadly.
Hochul also mentioned Newsom making the initial commitment. She stated that before New York could begin, the west coast governor had to progress toward zero emissions.

The governor of New York reassured her that she would have no trouble leaping in the future.

How do you feel about Hochul’s proposals? Do you support the transition to zero-emission vehicles?
