Biden claims that his father informed him that his uncle should have been awarded a Purple Heart for his participation in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. To surprise his uncle with the military honor, the elder Biden asked his son whether he might assist him in obtaining it.
According to President Biden, he awarded his uncle the Purple Heart and delivered it to him in front of the family at his home.
According to The New York Post, which refuted the claim, Biden’s father passed away in 2002, six years before the 2008 election. The president’s story is untrue as his uncle passed away in 1999.
