There is a lengthy history of President Joe Biden making mistakes. The media has called him out several times for making untrue statements throughout his presidency. Reporters have criticized him for making an incorrect statement once more.
Biden hosted a town hall for veterans in Delaware on December 16. During the ceremony, the president recounted a chat with his father following his victory in the 2008 vice presidential election. Biden claims that his father informed him that his uncle should have been awarded a Purple Heart for his participation in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. To surprise his uncle with the military honor, the elder Biden asked his son whether he might assist him in obtaining it.
According to President Biden, he awarded his uncle the Purple Heart and delivered it to him in front of the family at his home.
According to The New York Post, which refuted the claim, Biden’s father passed away in 2002, six years before the 2008 election. The president’s story is untrue as his uncle passed away in 1999.
